If there was any tool for measurement that I wish I had earlier in my career as a private investigator it would be the Keson Pocket Rod PR610.
I have had tape measures, walking measuring wheels and even rulers for measuring a variety of different things over the years.
And while all of those measurement devices work fine, the measuring device makes the life of a private investigator or claims investigator a little bit easier is the Keson Pocket Rod PR610.
Before I get into the particular reasons I love this measuring device let me provide some highlights.

Keson Pocket Rod PR610 (6-1/2 feet) HIghlights and Features
Tecron-tuff coated facing not affected by moisture
I don’t know what Tecron is but apparently, it protects the actual tape from moisture. This is good because I work in the rain quite a bit.
Non Glare Surface
A nonglare surface is needed when photographing measurements. You want to be able to see the measurement clearly in pictures.
Heavy Duty End Hook
The end hook is, of course, good for latching onto things when taking measurements. But it is also good for when you place it on the ground to measure vertically.
Large Numbering
Large numbers make it easier to identify measurements when photographed.
Why I like the Keson Pocket Rod PR610 and why it is good for private investigators
There are two basic reasons why I like the Keson Pocket Rod PR610 and why it is perfect for private investigators.
Large Numbering Makes Things Easier
As previously mentioned, the large numbering is great for photographing measurements. This particularly is useful when it comes to measuring small distances (6 ½ feet). Anyone can measure something and then document what the distance was but insurance companies like to see photographs of those measurements. So when photographing dents, scratches, damage as a result of vehicle accidents and things of that nature, this measuring rod is perfect.
When I would photograph with a standard tape measure I would always have to take two photographs. One would be from a distance to show perspective and the second would be closer to reflect the measurement.
The Tape Measure Doubles as a Measuring Rod
In the video review of this product, you can see how the tape measure can completely be removed from the container and stand straight up to be used as a measuring rod. And then when you are done it goes right back into the case like a tape measure would. It is such a convenient design for investigators in the field.
Final Thoughts Keson Pocket Rod PR610
Every single claims investigator should have one of these measuring tools to accompany other measuring devices like a tape measure. It will make photos look more professional when taking measurements and it will be easier for clients to see measurements in photos. You also won’t have to take as many pictures and that means there are fewer pictures you have to add to a report.
